Longtime member Gary Pashman received special recognition at the 2017 Mid Year Board meeting of the National Association of Home Builders in Washington DC last week. Following his 20+ years of dedicated service and attendance at nation board meetings, Gary was awarded the prestigious designation as a Senior Life Director of the national association. Congratulations Gary, we are all very proud of you.

Lester "Les" Haslett, 92, passed away April 24th in Topeka. Many of us will remember Les as a good friend and Lumberman, who served with Whelan's for 37 years! He certainly helped to build our community and it was our privilege to know and work with him. Our condolences to his wonderful family. Thank you for sharing him with us all these years.

Philip Charles Morse, 75, died December 19th at his home in Topeka. Phil was a long time member of the THBA and Past President in 1983. He served on the Topeka/Shawnee County planning commission in the 1990s and early 2000s. He was an early and avid booster of downtown redevelopment. His passion for history and his devotion to community furthered his commitment to do what he could to make the world better. In his later years this was made manifest in his commitment to environmental causes and sustainability. Phil will be missed by his many friends in the building and real estate community.
Henry Nicholas “Hank” Hulsing, 79, Topeka, passed away suddenly Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Health Center, comforted with love, surrounded by his family.
John T. Butler II, died July 28th at the age of 63. John owned and operated Benchmark Contracting, formerly Butler Enterprises, and was a long time member of Topeka Home Builders Association and the Professional Remodelers Council. A hard working man of faith, he will be missed by all.
